NaFFAA Relaunches FilAm Alerts Program Amid Recent Typhoons and Earthquakes in the Philippines
/WASHINGTON, D.C. — In light of the recent typhoons and earthquakes affecting communities across the Philippines, the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) proudly announces the relaunch of the FilAm Alerts Program—a strengthened, data-driven disaster response initiative designed to unify the Filipino American community during critical moments.
The relaunch comes at a time when the Philippines is experiencing heightened seismic and climate activity, underscoring the urgency of having a verified, transparent, and coordinated system for mobilizing humanitarian support from Filipino Americans worldwide. The FilAm Alerts Program ensures that every donation, volunteer effort, and message of support reaches the right people at the right time—efficiently, accountably, and with full transparency.
A Modernized System for Modern Disasters
The challenges of today’s climate—rapidly intensifying typhoons, sudden-onset earthquakes, and cascading hazards—require disaster response systems that are unified, data-informed, and community-driven.
Traditionally, Filipino communities abroad mobilize swiftly during crises, but scattered information and decentralized fundraising efforts can cause delays or duplication. Many donors also seek assurance that their contributions are verifiable and directed toward legitimate, high-need areas.
The FilAm Alerts Program directly addresses these issues by centralizing communication, verification, and reporting. Using a structured donation framework and real-time monitoring, it converts community compassion into coordinated action—ensuring no effort goes to waste and no community is left behind.
Mark Eyo, Chief of Mission for NaFFAA’s FilAm Alerts Program, visits the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) Operations Center in Clark, Pampanga, with Klaribelle Anne Languayan, Senior Partnerships Officer, and Ana Regina Victoria Parungao, Partnerships Officer, to strengthen collaboration in coordinated disaster response and real-time alert systems for the Filipino American community.
Strengthening Collaboration with PDRF
The relaunch is made possible through an enhanced partnership with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF)—the Philippines’ premier private-sector disaster response and coordination network.
PDRF’s Operations Center in Clark, Pampanga provides advanced real-time monitoring of typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic activity, and other hazard events. All FilAm Alerts bulletins and mobilizations will now be fully synchronized and verified with PDRF’s system before dissemination.
NaFFAA Interim National Vice President Alex Africa emphasized this critical partnership:
“In these past weeks, we’ve seen how quickly disasters can escalate. The FilAm Alerts Program shows what is possible when data, compassion, and coordination come together. By working closely with PDRF, we ensure that every Filipino American effort is guided by verified information—and every act of generosity leads to real impact.”
Leadership Behind the Mission
NaFFAA proudly announces Mark Eyo as the Chief of Mission for the FilAm Alerts Program. His recent visit to the PDRF Operations Center, together with Senior Partnerships Officer Klaribelle Anne Languayan and Partnerships Officer Ana Regina Victoria Parungao, marks the strengthening of NaFFAA–PDRF coordination for real-time alerts, disaster verification, and mobilization.
Supporting the Chief of Mission is NaFFAA’s Humanitarian Council, composed of leaders representing the diverse strength of Filipino American communities nationwide. National Relations Coordinators Angelo Reyes, Jelly Carandang, and Leo Belmonte will facilitate unified communication across NaFFAA regions, state chapters, and partner organizations to ensure consistent nationwide response coverage.
NaFFAA National President Ryan Namata reflected on the program’s renewed relevance:
“With typhoons battering Luzon and earthquakes striking our Visayas communities, our people need clarity, not confusion. FilAm Alerts provides exactly that—verified information, transparent reporting, and coordination rooted in bayanihan. This is the kind of unity our global community needs right now.”

The facility serves as the country’s premier private-sector coordination hub for disaster preparedness and response, integrating advanced technology to ensure rapid and reliable communication with national and international partners.
How #FilAmAlerts Works
When a natural disaster strikes, the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) or related agencies such as PAGASA, PHIVOLCS, DOST, or OCD issue official alerts. These are sent to the NaFFAA FilAm Alerts Chief of Mission and the Humanitarian Response Council for immediate action
Upon receiving verified information, the FilAm Alerts team generates an official bulletin summarizing the situation, providing donation details, and including verified infographics. Within six hours, this information is disseminated via email and social media to NaFFAA leaders, trustees, and media partners. National and Regional Relations Coordinators then share these advisories with Regional Presidents, State Chapters, and registered FilAm organizations for local dissemination.
Ongoing monitoring is managed by the FilAm Alerts National Tracking and Alert System (NTAS), which tracks responses and ensures continuous communication through social and email updates. Within twenty-four hours, NaFFAA coordinates with PDRF and local authorities to identify verified areas and organizations for relief distribution. Following this, NaFFAA and its partners facilitate the proper delivery of donations while maintaining full documentation and verification. After each relief operation, NaFFAA issues a press release and FilAm Alerts Bulletin summarizing fund usage, beneficiary updates, and post-event reports for full transparency and accountability
A Collective Step Forward
The relaunch of FilAm Alerts stands as a powerful reminder that bayanihan remains at the core of the Filipino American identity—even across oceans.
As the Philippines continues to face natural disasters, FilAm Alerts provides structure, transparency, and reassurance. It transforms heartfelt concern into calculated impact—serving as a bridge between Filipino Americans and the homeland we love.
“In these moments of crisis, we don’t just respond—we respond together,” noted NaFFAA National Chair Mariela Fletcher. “FilAm Alerts ensures that our unity is not only felt, but organized, effective, and truly lifesaving.”
