OFWs Can Now Work in Jordan

The Philippines has lifted a five-year-old ban that kept OFWs from working in Jordan, reports Yahoo News/L‘Agence France-Presse. The ban, imposed amid concerns over poor working conditions, was lifted after the Philippine and Jordanian governments reached two agreements this year aimed at protecting the workers, including a minimum monthly salary of $400. The ban on Jordan was imposed in 2007 due to "the growing number of distressed Filipino workers" who sought help from Philippine diplomatic offices there.
