On Feb. 23, the William Mott, Jr. Presidio Visitor Center had its ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Rep. Nancy Pelosi. The Presidio Visitor Center gives park goers access to discover the 1500-acre oasis in the heart of urban San Francisco. It also acts as the ‘front door’ and launching pad for the ultimate Presidio adventure offering a platform for discovery, inspiring videos, engaging exhibits, and interactive tools while knowledgeable staff help visitors uncover the array of experiences available to them.

The Presidio Visitor Center is a refurbished historic guardhouse at Main Point, with views overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. While millions of people have discovered aspects of the Presidio, there hasn’t been a place for visitors to get to know the park until now.

Greg Moore, President and CEO of the National Parks Conservancy says : “The Presidio Visitor Center will be the focal point to providing access to all parts of the Presidio and the greater Golden Gate National Recreation Area, exemplifying the ideal that our national parks belong to everyone.”

This mission is echoed by Odette Alcazaren-Keeley, the first and only Filipino American Board of Trustee of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy: “it is our rich diversity that defines us a people and the national parks can play a role in making sure there’s a place for family, community and values, where all our voices are represented. “

The post-to-park transformation was made possible by the collaboration of three agencies: the Presidio Trust, the National Park Service, and the non-profit, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

The William Penn Mott Jr. Presidio Visitor Center is located at: 210 Lincoln Blvd, on the Presidio Main Post, San Francisco. Open 7 days a week, 10 am – 5pm beginning February 25, 2017. Visit www.presidio.gov/visitor-center for details.
