Know Your Rights Training

Dear Kasama,

As part of our ongoing commitment to community care and safety, we’re hosting an internal Know Your Rights Training and Q&A on Monday, May 19th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, happening both in-person at our Union City office and online via Zoom.

During this training, we’ll go over our constitutional rights—regardless of immigration status—and how to assess and respond to different types of ICE encounters. We’ll also spend time mapping our pods, the people we trust and turn to in moments of crisis. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions during a live Q&A with special guests, including an attorney from Asian Law Caucus (ALC), who will share about your rights when interacting with law enforcement and immigration officers, and members from the Tanggol Migrante Campaign in Union City, who will share local efforts to defend our kababayan and strengthen anti-deportation defense work.

This training is free of cost and open to FAJ members, friends, and trusted networks who want to build their skills to defend our community and connect across shared struggles. Light refreshments and snacks will be available. We’ll follow FAJ’s COVID safety protocol (masks available on-site and a negative rapid test required), and there will be access to an all-gender restroom. Please let us know of any additional access needs in the RSVP form.

RSVP by Wednesday, May 14 to secure your spot. In-person participation is limited to 30 attendees. Once you RSVP, we’ll send you the location details or Zoom link.

We’re excited to build with you—see you there!
