Call For Submissions: The Pilipina/x/o Radical Imagination Reader Vol. 2

The Pilipina/x/o Radical Imagination Reader is seeking submissions for our second volume, 10 years after the first, bringing together the multiplicity of Pilipina/x/o voices in hopes to deepen our consciousness through compassion, dialogue and (inter)action.

Through the evolution of being Pilipina/x/o, in this historical moment, we want to ask: What is being revealed to us about our conditions and ourselves, and how are we showing up?

Along your own journey, what legacies do you wish to leave behind? How are we becoming good ancestors?

In 2025-2026, death, uncertainty, and decay is all around us. The rise of fascism, authoritarianism, and corruption around the globe, including the current U.S. militarism on its citizens; the ongoing genocides in Palestine, Congo, and Sudan; and mass protests against government corruption in Nepal, Indonesia, Philippines, and Peru; call us to speak truth to these times. As adrienne maree brown notes, "things are not getting worse, they are getting uncovered." What is being revealed to us about our conditions and ourselves, and how are we showing up? What insight from your communities, elders, and/or ancestors help light the path you’re walking? With our limited time on earth, as Pilipina/x/os in the diaspora, what does it look like to become a good ancestor? This reader offers a space to capture the fluidity across our communities. It builds understanding that can bear out new relationships to our realities, as tied to all the generations that have come before us, and those that shall come after.

We hold dear the intention of love in this book project; it was born out of love and is a labor of love. This project is about suturing together the different pieces of ourselves and of our community.
