Capt. Franklyn Mallari Desiderio, 41, flies one of the United Arab Emirate’s Airbus A380's, the world's largest commercial planes, the first and only Filipino to do so, reports The Filipino Times. Desiderio was a pilot for Philippine Air Lines.

Filipino Group in UK Gets Award for Community Service

A group of overseas Filipinos in England received special recognition for their community service in the Philippines, a decade after starting their crusade to introduce the jury system in their homeland, reports ABS-CBN News. The Philippine Jury Campaign UK (PhilJury) received a Special Award for their Outstanding Contribution to Community Service, from the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) in Manila.
