A decades-long dream for Filipino Americans in Las Vegas will finally come true on October 9, 2025, when Clark County officially unveils the sign for the Filipino Town Las Vegas Cultural District, marking the occasion with a community celebration.

The historic event, hosted by Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom and Filipino community leaders, will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the unveiling of a replica street sign at the corner of Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road. This location is part of the newly designated 1.2-mile Filipino Town Las Vegas Cultural District, which runs along Maryland Parkway from Desert Inn Road to Flamingo Road. The corridor is home to iconic Filipino-owned businesses such as Seafood City Supermarket, Jollibee, and Max’s Restaurant.

Other businesses serving the Filipino community include the Boulevard Mall, Mang Felix Restaurant, +63Fifty Fil-Am Central, the Fil-Am TV Network, and the Filipino American Media Association of Nevada. Filipino Town Las Vegas is also home to more than 30 other Filipino-owned retail, restaurant, medical, and professional establishments.

“Filipino Town is not just a landmark but a living, breathing cultural destination for locals and tourists alike, allowing our community’s heritage to be shared and experienced by everyone!” says Bernie Benito, President of Filipino Town Las Vegas. Inc., the nonprofit entity formed in September 2024 to lead efforts to designate and secure official recognition of a Filipino cultural district in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Filipino Town community meeting

Benito, a well-known leader in the Filipino American community and a Las Vegas resident since 1972, convened an initial meeting in April 2024 with leaders of various Filipino American organizations to discuss establishing an entity to pursue the Filipino Town Las Vegas cultural designation. It was a notable achievement by Benito, given the challenge of uniting more than 50 Filipino American organizations in Las Vegas alone.

"There is progress when we are all united, working for one mission and one vision!" claims Benito.

Benito succeeded Rozita Lee, who resigned on July 10, 2025. Lee is credited with spearheading the movement for the Filipino Town Las Vegas cultural designation, along with the officers and board members she personally selected.

Clark County officially approved the cultural designation on April 15, 2025, following a grueling nine-month application process that included public town hall meetings and multiple hearings before the Clark County Board of Commissioners. The more-than-28-page application was submitted by Rozita Lee, Joel Enriquez, and his wife, Olive. Enriquez is the founding president of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Nevada.

The resolution adopted on April 15, 2025, declared that the establishment of Filipino Town Las Vegas “will help preserve and celebrate the culture, commerce, food, celebrations, and religion of Filipino people who have made Clark County their home.”

Las Vegas and Southern Nevada are home to over 200,000 Filipinos—the largest Asian ethnic group in Nevada, according to the 2020 Census.
