PH Economy Could Grow to a $1.05 Trillion Market By 2029

A US-based think tank predicted that the surging Philippine economy will likely prosper and reach over $1 trillion by 2029. IHS Asia Pacific chief economist Rajiv Biswas said the Philippines could transform into a $1.05 trillion market if it continues to expand at an average rate of 5.5 percent annually over the 2016-2020 period, reports Asian Journal. Biswas said the per capita income would rise from around $3,000 in 2015 to around $6,000 by 2024.

Dr. Alfredo Mahar Lagmay, head or the Philippine government’s Project NOAH -- Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards -- received the Plinius Medal from the European Geosciences Union in Vienna for his “outstanding interdisciplinary natural-hazard research and natural-disaster engagement in the Philippines, particularly with respect to volcanic hazards, earthquakes, typhoons, landslides and floods,” reports Manila Standard Today.

She even asked Filipinas not to leave the country anymore, if possible, reports ABS-CBN News. Her letter was written inside her prison on Nusa Kambangan Island, known as Indonesia’s execution island.

 

PH, Vietnam Call for Code of Conduct in South China Sea

Jozef Erece, a Filipino prodigy, became one of the youngest recipients of a law degree in the world at just 18 years old. He graduated last Friday, April 17, from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia "at the age most students leave high school," reports Australia’s The Chronicle.

 

 

More PH Airlines May Fly to Europe

More Philippine air carriers may soon take to European skies. (CAAP) spokesman Eric Apolonio said a five-man team from the European Union (See photo of EU Ambassador Guy Ledoux) will assess the safety oversight system for air carriers and the possible lifting of the ban against seven local airlines that have the capacity to comply with aviation safety regulations, reports Inquirer.net.
