Filipino-Chinese magnate Henry Sy and family remained in Forbes magazine’s list of top 100 global billionaires in 2014, despite a decline in the family’s net worth to $11.4 billion from $13.2 billion in 2013, reports the Manila Times.

PH Motor Vehicle Sales Outpace Neighbors

Sales of motor vehicles and motorcycles grew the fastest in the Philippines in the first month of 2014, reports Interaksyon.com. In its latest report,  the Asean Automotive Federation (AAF) said motor vehicle sales in the Philippines grew 27 percent to 15,642 units in January from 12,303 units a year ago, bucking the 16 percent contraction in Asean.

PH Inflation Eases Slightly in February

Inflation eased slightly in February on slower increases in prices of alcohol and tobacco, reports Rappler.com. Data from the National Statistics Office (NSO) showed inflation eased to 4.1% in February from 4.2% the previous month. It was however way faster than the 3.4% recorded last year.

At just 23 years old, Filipino-American gamer Justin Ignacio finds himself named among Forbes magazine's prestigious "30 under 30" list, reports ABS-CBN News. New Jersey-born Ignacio made the cut on the 2014 Forbes list of the 30 brightest young stars in video games under 30-years old. He is a broadcast production manager at Twitch.tv.

Hong Kong to Strengthen Maid Hiring Oversight

Hong Kong on Friday vowed to strengthen legal oversight over maid employment agencies following a spate of abuse cases that have caused widespread shock and anger, reports GMA News. City authorities said they would step up surveillance against unscrupulous agencies and look into increasing penalties against those who take advantage of maids.
