Super typhoon “Yolanda” (international name Haiyan) has passed over the last major landmass in the Philippines as it makes its way to the open waters of the West Philippine Sea, the state-run weather bureau said Friday night, reports Inquirer.net.

The European Union is providing $3.5 million in humanitarian aid to about 350,000 people who lost their homes and livelihoods when a magnitude-7.2 earthquake ravaged Bohol island and nearby provinces in Central Visayas on October 15, reports Inquirer.net.

Canada Slashing Backlogs, Reuniting Families

Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander on November 1 pledged aggressive action to reunite more families in 2014, reports Balita Pinoy.  Canada aims to admit 50,000 parents and grandparents over two years (2012 and 2013) and  an additional 20,000 in 2014.
