The Philippine Coast Guard hailed 12-year-old Cherry Ann Mateo after she swam around three nautical miles or 5.5 kilometers for at least six hours to seek help when the fishing boat she was on with three companions capsized off Culasi, Antique on May 6, 2026 (See Turismo Central Luzon for story).
