HK Bill to Ban Filipino Maids Slammed as Racist

HONG KONG--A plan by two Hong Kong lawmakers to stop Philippine maids from working here has drawn harsh criticism, reports Hong Kong's The Standard. No political party is willing to second the pair's motion to ban Filipinos from Hong Kong - and even relatives of the Manila hostage victims have rejected the idea. The threat was made yesterday after Philippine President Benigno Aquino refused to apologize for the 2010 Manila tragedy in which eight Hong Kong residents were killed in tourist bus hijacking by an embittered ex-cop.
