Alia Abiad, a 14-year-old from Western Springs, Illionois, finished in fifth place at the Scripps National Spelling Bee championship finals May 29, reports NBC News Chicago. Ablad was eliminated when she misspelled “irbis,” the name for a Russian Snow Leopard. She tied another contestant for fifth place.
