Renowned Filipino furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue has been honored with the Pratt Legends award in New York.The Pratt Institute ranks among the top 10 art and design schools globally. Kenneth achieved summa cum laude honors upon graduating from Pratt in 1991 (See ABS-CBN for story).

Jo Koy to Host 81st Golden Globe Awards

Comedian Jo Koy has been selected to host 81st annual Golden Globes. The decision was announced on the Globes website on Thursday morning. Koy is a standup comedian and actor who in the past was a panelist on “Chelsea Lately” and has also had comedy specials that aired on Comedy Central and Netflix. (See CNN for story).

PAL, American Airlines Partnership Eases Flying to PH

American Airlines (AA) has entered a new codeshare partnership with Philippine Airlines (PAL), offering seamless connections between the Philippines and the United States. The new codeshare covers AA’s routes to Los Angeles from seven US cities – Atlanta, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Orlando and Washington, D.C. (See Inquirer.net for story).

Filipina Nun Caring for Disabled Refuses to Leave Gaza

A 63-year-old Filipina nun, Sister Elisabeth Ann of the Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa of Calcutta, has refused to leave the 54 persons with disabilities under the sisters’ care and are now homeless “and without access to the respirators,” despite continued Israeli bombing of Gaza (See Rappler for story).
