Queens, NY Neighborhood to Be Named 'Little Manila'

A new sign bearing the name “Little Manila Avenue” will be put on a street corner in Woodside, Queens NYC to honor the large Filipino population in the area. The sign will be on the southwest corner of Roosevelt Avenue and 70th Street. Last year, a change.org petition to install the “Little Manila” street sign gained more than 3,000 signatures. This led to councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer to sponsor the legislation for the sign (See AsAm News for story).
