Filipino Bone Marrow Donor Sought for Baby with Leukemia

A Hayward, California family is trying to save their nine-month-old baby who was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. The family hopes to find a bone marrow or stem cell donor, but because of the pandemic registration and community outreach has suffered. The baby’s diagnosis came earlier this month. Siblings are the best match but he’s an only child so now, a call to find a donor like him of Filipino descent (See Asian Journal)

USF Offering 'Filipino for Black Lives Course' for Spring 2021

The University of San Francisco is offering a course called ‘Filipinx for Black Lives.’ This 4-unit Spring 2021 Sociology Special Topics course will examine how pre-migration events and institutions, and US immigration and settlement experiences, have shaped Filipino understandings of race/ racism, Blackness/ anti-Blackness, race politics, and racial solidarity in the US.
