Tourists departing the Philippines may need to get a polio vaccine certificate. A polio outbreak was declared in the Philippines in September, after 19 years of the country being free of the virus – which means departing travelers may be required by certain countries to present an International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV) against polio (See Rappler for story).

Trump to End Immigration Parole Program for Filipino WWII Vets' Families

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced its intention to terminate a parole program that intends to help Filipino World War II veterans and their families. Two Philippine coffee firms won top prizes at the 5th International Contest of Locally Roasted Coffees in Milan, Italy last month, the trade department said. Mirabueno Coffee, harvested in Bukidnon, and SGD Bodega Coffee, grown in Sagada, bested 700 other producers from 25 countries for the Gourmet and Bronze prizes in separate categories (See ABS-CBN News for story).

A team of Grade 11 students from the Philippine Science High School-Western Visayas Campus won the silver award in the Young Investors Challenge 2019 in Malaysia for creating The Sound-Light or “S-Light” that generates electricity from noise (See Virtual Pinoy for story).

Grand Master Wesley So became the first World Champion in Fischer Random Chess. So defeated GM Magnus Carlsen by the dominant score of 13.5 to 2.5 in the event that started on October 27 and ended on November 2 (See USChessWorld for story).

3rd Strong Quake Rocks Southern PH
