The Philippines' own Angelia Ong has won the title of Miss Earth 2015, succeeding the Philippines' Jamie Herrell, Miss Earth 2014 at the pageant's coronation night held Saturday, December 5 (early morning Sunday, December 6 in Manila) in Vienna, Austria. PH to be $1-Trillion Economy by 2030

The Philippines will be the only sovereign entity in Asia with improving credit prospects, making it a $1-trillion economy by 2030, Washington-based analytics firm IHS Global Insight said.

In its Sovereign Risk Review report for the third quarter of 2015, IHS said it upgraded its outlook on the Philippines’ credit rating to positive from stable, amid the trend of improving financial fundamentals, investor confidence, and governance standards in the Philippines. More on Rappler.com.

Court Stops Uber and GrabCar in the Philippines

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court on Friday suspended the operations of app-based transport services Uber and GrabCar for 20 days.

The court issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to stop operations of Uber, GrabCar and similar transport services.

Petitioner Angat Tsuper Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator ng Pilipinas Genuine Organization Transport Coalition, represented by Pascual Magno, earlier requested for a TRO against the operation of the private transport services. More in philstar.com.

The Philippines is Among the Least Financially Literate

Filipino adults were among the least knowledgeable about their personal finances, presenting a major constraint to equitable economic development.

Standard & Poor’s ranked 140 countries in terms of financial literacy and found that adults in Asian countries knew the least about monetary ideas, including risk diversification, inflation and compound interest.

The Philippines was one of the 30 least financially literate countries in the world, with only 25 percent of adults aware of the basics of managing their money. More in Inquirer.net.

The Philippines have won the Zone 9 2015 FEI World Dressage Challenge as the final result have arrived. Five countries participated in the zone 9 challenge: New Zealand, Philippines, Taipei, China, and Hong Kong. French judge Alain Francqueville and Swedish judge Bo Ehman travelled to these five countries to assess the classes.

The FEI World Challenge is a global event that includes more than 50 countries divided into nine zones. Two judges are chosen for each zone and they travel to the events where competitors ride the same tests. When the judges conclude their trip through one zone, the results are added together which determine the winner for each class, as well as a team result. More from Eurodressage.com

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Second Division has disqualified Senator Grace Poe from the 2016 presidential race for failing to meet requirements of the Constitution for presidential candidates.

In a 34-page resolution, the three-member division granted the petition of lawyer Estrella Elamparo seeking the cancellation of Poe's certificate of candidacy for president. More from GMANews.tv.

PH Economy Grew 6% in Third Quarter

The Philippine economy grew at its fastest pace so far this year during the third quarter, as the gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by 6 percent during the July to September period, reports Inquirer.net. The third quarter GDP growth figure was higher than the 5 percent posted in the first quarter and the adjusted 5.8-percent growth during the second quarter.
