Hundreds of millions of pesos in funds intended for the relief and rehabilitation of disaster victims did not reach them in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013 because government offices used them up for operations or kept them in banks, reports Rappler.com.

Filipina Falls to Death in Abu Dhabi

A Filipino woman died after falling from the 13th floor of a building in Abu Dhabi on September 5, Gulf News has learned. The woman apparently fell off the Eldorado Cinema building at around 10:30 a.m. on Friday," a police source said. The building is located on Shaikh Zayed the Second Street, popularly known as the Electra Street.

PH Economy Climbs Up 7 Places in World Competitiveness

The Philippines continued to improve its competitiveness on the global stage, reports Inquirer.net.  The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Competitiveness Report for 2014 to 2015 showed the Philippines climbed seven places to 52nd out of 140 countries. Since 2010, the country has climbed 33 spots, making it among the biggest gainers among the nations surveyed.
