If you're a non-Filipino man who wants to marry a Filipina, pulling it off  may be about to get tougher. You will soon need to prove your capacity to support your bride. A new bill passed on second reading in the House of Representatives last week mandating additional requirements for male foreigners to want to marry Filipinas, reports Asian Pacific Post.

Seventy-five heavily armed Filipino peacekeepers besieged by Syrian rebels in the Golan Heights are ready to use “deadly force” to defend themselves, their commander said on August 29, reports Inquirer.net. The Filipino peacekeepers locked in a standoff with Syrian rebels in the Golan Heights, who have taken 43 Fijian peacekeepers hostage after seizing their weapons.

Archivists at the US Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington, D.C. came across an unexpected treasure:  a wooden box filled with 150 original, never-before-seen glass plate photos from the Spanish-American war, including scenes of the war in the Philippines, reports Georgia Newsday.

He recently gained international attention as the subject of a Huffington Post story after he started posting Intagram photos of his little, weekly project doing free haircuts for the poor.
