Two Filipino women are among the 25 “most influential” women in Asia-Pacific’s asset management scene, based on a list drawn up by financial publication AsianInvestor Magazine, reports Inquirer.net: Maria Theresa Marcial Javier, senior vice president and head of asset management and trust group at Ayala-led Bank of the Philippine Islands, and Ramona Gertrudes Santiago, assistant governor and head of treasury at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Spain Nabs 20 Filipinos in Drug Ring

MADRID—Spanish police said that they had broken up two drug trafficking rings specializing in crystal meth, arresting 42 people, almost half of them Filipinos, reports Inquirer.net. Police seized eight kilos (17.6 pounds) of the highly addictive drug -- known as “ice” or “shabu”-- and 15,000 ($21,000) in cash in raids across Madrid, Barcelona and Murcia, the police said in a statement. Police arrested 20 Filipinos, 19 Spaniards and three Africans—one each from Mali, Senegal and Togo.
