As most emerging Asian currencies tumbled on Monday with an intense global sell-off of riskier assets, the peso lost up to 0.3 percent to 45.45 to the dollar, its weakest since August 2010, reports ABS-CBN News.

Remittances Reached Record High Last November

Remittances reached a monthly record of $2.286 billion in November, supported by the sustained deployment of Filipino workers abroad,  reports Rappler.com. In a statement on Wednesday, January 15, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said the amount was equivalent to a 9.5% growth from the $2.087 billion remittances recorded in November 2012.
