Filipino American pastry consultant Jeffrey De Leon is competing in the third season of the Food Network series “Best Baker in America,” which premiered May 13. Contestants tryto whip up beautiful and delicious baked goods for $25,000 and the coveted title of “Best Baker in America,” reports Inquirer.net.
Former diplomat Paulo Garcia made his debut at the New Zealand Parliament, honoring his heritage as the first Filipino-born member of the Kiwi legislature. Garcia, an immigrant who served as Philippine Honorary Consul General in Auckland in 2012, was elected on May 16 following the resignation of National Party MP Nuk Korako, reports ABS-CBN News.

In a privileged speech delivered at the Senate, opposition Sen. Sonny Trillanes said that self-proclaimed drug Bikoy Advincula sought his help in August 2018 because the latter said his life was threatened by members of a drug syndicate. However, Trillanes said he ignored Advincula because he thought there were loopholes in his story, ABS-CBN News reported.
